Healthy Beauty

The first thing people will look at you is your face. Especially if you"re looking for a sexy partner or on a hot date, you want your face to be looking healthy and beautiful at all times! When you get older, the first thing to show your age is your face. People who have wrinkles or liver spots on their skin, especially to the face, will tend to look older and more unattractive.

Face Cream Guide - Make up Basics

Doing makeup is essential whether you are in office or going out. Everyone wants to look attractive, attract attention, and be found pleasant by the opposite sex. There is something natural and instinctive about it. Whether you are married or single, young or middle aged, grooming is a part of our nature.

Case in Point: Makeup and Acne

Claire, a thirty five year old woman of Caribbean descent, had been battling acne for years before she came to my office. She told me she experienced frequent outbreaks throughout each month but especially before her period. Claire complained not only of acne bumps but also of dark areas on her forehead, cheeks, and chin. To camouflage the dark spots, she"d apply several layers of a heavy, oil based foundation each morning and even apply more layers throughout the day. I explained to her that her foundation was one cause of her frequent acne flare ups because the oils in her foundation exacerbated the condition. Additionally, since her foundation was so thick, Claire would vigorously scrub her face each night to remove the makeup. By doing that, she was irritating her skin and inadvertently making her acne worse.

Claire agreed to let go of her cherished foundation. I recommended that she first apply a concealer to the dark areas, then an oil free liquid foundation followed by a light dusting of powder to cover her blemishes and even out her complexion. At the same time, I prescribed the acne medications Benzaclin Gel and Differin Gel, and a hydroquinone bleaching cream, Lustra AF with sunscreen, to diminish the dark marks. As her acne improved, Claire developed fewer dark areas and those she had began to fade.
